The Palms Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands All guests will get an iPod on arrival at The Palms when it opens in January. Beyond cool. Bill Anderson, who is orchestrating this latest manifestation of luxury in the Turks, used to work for Chris Blackwell's Island Outpost hotels, hence the emphasis on music. The Palms promises to be fun -- a challenger to Mrs Ong's Parrot Cay -- and for a younger crowd. The look is elegant-white and Anderson sis talking fusion food -- all in all, this will be somewhere much more like Carlisle Bay (see Hotel of the Year) than the old-fashioned Caribbean hotels that have lumped along like sad carthorses for decades. Other techno excesses include 'sun pods', which apparently rotate to face the sun. We shall see.
